Bicycle Friendly Palm Springs

Palm Springs has always been bicycle friendly, with several bike routes around the area and virtually no hills anywhere except a few neighborhoods up near Mt. Jacinto. In newer neighborhoods, there are wide paved mixed-use paths, usually divided to give cyclists their own lanes.

I must say I get nervous riding on the main streets of Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives, but they can be mostly avoided with alternate routes.

This year we've discovered that the City has installed creative bike racks just about everywhere we turn. There is even a bank of them right on busy Palm Canyon Drive!

The racks are blue and riders attach theirs in a variety of ways.

This rack is not the City's but a gift to the community by Tyler's a popular downtown burger and sandwich place.
